Denise Defontaine Tuthill was a long time feminist who strongly believed in equity across all sectors of the economy.  Without barriers to culture or geography, she was vocal about equality and human rights at a time when women had little or no status in the United States and in countries around the world.  Denise had been a strong supporter of the mission of the International Women's Democracy Center and decided to leave her legacy in the Denise Defontaine Tuthill Activist Fellowship to support young women leaders ages 18-35 engaged in social activism through IWDC programs and projects.
