FEED THE FAMILY

Feed the Family has expanded it’s reach to address food insecurity throughout the DC Metro area by working in partnership with area schools, universities, community based organizations, religious institutions and neighborhood groups to host food and cleaning supply drives to support 3 new pantries that have opened in DC. With more people living on fixed incomes, especially seniors, the crisis of food insecurity continues to increase across the region!

According to the Capital Area Food Bank, while overall rates of food insecurity persisted at a high level, this year’s survey points to a continued increase in its. severity. The share of food insecure households with very low food security has grown sharply over the past three years—from 16% in 2022 to 22% in 2025. This equates to more than 820 thousand adults now in the lowest tier of food security and an increase of nearly 75,000 adults per year since 2022.

Please be generous. If your organization, neighborhood, school or community group would like to host a food/cleaning supply drive to support one of the new pantries, please contact Barbara at ferrisbacm@yahoo.com
